WASHINGTON — Two Republican consultants say Arizona GOP Rep. Trent Franks is resigning from Congress.
Neither of the GOP strategists stated they knew why the eight-time period lawmaker was leaving. However his departure was abrupt, and one of many consultants stated the 60-yr-previous Franks was resigning Thursday.
He left the Home flooring Thursday after being consoled by a number of different Republicans, together with Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert, Alabama’s Robert Aderholt and fellow Arizonan Andy Biggs.
Franks has been a member of the far-proper Home Freedom Caucus.
He’s a staunch social conservative who sponsored Home-handed laws to make it a criminal offense for any individual to carry out an abortion if the age of the fetus is 20 weeks or extra.
The Republicans spoke on situation of anonymity to explain a choice they’d been informed privately.
