'Treasure of the Sierra Madre' turns 70


John Huston’s basic western The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is returning to theaters this week in celebration of its seventieth anniversary.

Starring Humphrey Bogart, the movie was nominated for Greatest Image in 1948 (however misplaced to Hamlet) and gained Oscars for Directing, Tailored Screenplay and Greatest Supporting Actor (Walter Huston, profitable alongside his son, Director John Huston).

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre stays within the prime 50 of the American Movie Institute’s one hundred Biggest American Movies of All-Time.
