4th conviction in Los Angeles murder of Chinese student

A 21-yr-previous man was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree homicide in the beating demise of a University of Southern California graduate scholar from China.

Albert Ochoa is the fourth individual convicted within the 2014 attack on 24-yr-previous engineering scholar Xinran Ji.

Ochoa and three others attacked Ji while making an attempt to rob him as he was strolling house from a research group close to the USC campus on June 24, 2014, prosecutors stated.

Ji was crushed with a wrench and a baseball bat. After the attack, Ji staggered to his off-campus condo and was later found lifeless.

During Garcia’s sentencing last yr, Ji’s father, Songbo Ji, sobbed as he informed the courtroom that his son was killed viciously.

“Individuals like our age at the moment are prepping their daughter’s and their son’s wedding ceremony, and their life is filled with joy,” he stated in Mandarin. “But day by day as an alternative for us we’re paying tribute to our son, crying.”

Ochoa faces life in jail at his sentencing on March 8.
