Strong start for Banuelos

Over his four 2/3 innings of two-run ball, left-hander Manny Banuelos didn’t have the strikeout pitch he had moving into earlier outings but he crammed the zone with two-seamers, walked nobody and declared himself worthy of a spot on the Opening Day roster regardless of a 5.14 ERA in five begins.

“Truthfully, yes,” Banuelos, a former prime Yankees prospect, stated. “I consider I have shown what I’m able to doing. I’ve progressed in every outing and I feel healthy, that may be a huge key for me.”

If the 28-yr-previous Banuelos, who is out of choices, doesn’t make the group as a starter he might be used as an extended reliever or swing man.

Over Yonder

Yonder Alonso hit his staff-greatest fourth homer of the spring and his second to the other area within the first inning towards Tyler Beede. The Sox (7-14-2) didn’t rating after that and struck out 12 occasions, including three by Brandon Guyer in three plate appearances.

Been there completed that

Adam Engel, a Gold Glove finalist in middle area final season, scaled the center area wall to take a home run away from Pablo Sandoval in the second inning. Engel made three such performs in a span of 1 week last season. Engel also singled twice in three at-bats, raising his spring common to .250.

Extra prefer it

Lefty Jace Fry, who was having a troublesome spring, struck out 4, walked one and didn’t permit successful in 1 2/3 innings. Lefty waiver pickup Josh Osich walked one however struck out two in his second scoreless look in as many outings. Kelvin Herrera (3.18 ERA) pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
