A man accused of ransacking a lady’s condominium in Lake View and swinging a knife at an officer who tried to take him into custody was ordered held without bond Wednesday.
Lorenzo Shorter, 22, knocked on the 29-yr-previous lady’s door about three:35 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of West Cornelia and pushed his means into her condo when she opened the door, Prepare dinner County prosecutors stated throughout a bail listening to at the Leighton Felony Courtroom Building.

Inside her condominium, Shorter put her in a headlock and held her, which restricted her respiration, prosecutors stated. She managed to escape and ran to her bed room, where she locked the door and referred to as police.
Shorter then went into the lady’s kitchen and took a butcher knife, prosecutors stated. He walked via the house, stabbing the partitions and breaking gadgets till officers arrived and chased Shorter out the back door.
When Shorter was backed up towards a fence within the 3400 block of North Seminary, one officer used pepper spray while another officer tried to grab Shorter, prosecutors stated. Shorter, who was nonetheless carrying the butcher knife, swung it at the officer’s head as they tried to carry him.
Officers fired a stun gun, inflicting Shorter to fall to the bottom, authorities stated. He was taken into custody and delivered to Illinois Masonic Medical Middle for remedy.
No injuries have been reported to the officers.
