Miss USA apologizes for comments about Miss Universe contestants

Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers has apologized after being criticized for comments she made on the Miss Universe pageant about how a few of her fellow contestants don’t converse English.

Because the uproar heated up, the Nebraska pageant queen’s supporters, together with her mother, stated her comments have been been misconstrued. The contestants are in Thailand getting ready for the pageant on Sunday.

Summers posted an apology to her Instagram, saying she realized how what she stated might “be perceived as not respectful.”

She made the controversial comments in a now-expired Instagram Stay video that was re-posted on the Instagram of Grand Slam Beauty Alliance.

In the two clips, Summers is seen speaking to Miss Australia, Francesca Hung, and Miss Colombia, Valeria Morales, in response to Yahoo.

“What do you consider Miss Vietnam?” Summers asks the ladies about their fellow contestant H’Hen Nie.

“She’s so cute and she or he pretends to know so much English, and then you definitely ask her a question after having an entire conversation together with her and she or he goes … “ Summers says, nodding her head, smiling and laughing.
