The Latest: Florida executes man for woman’s 1992 killing

A man convicted of fatally beating and stabbing a South Florida lady 26 years ago during a burglary has been executed.

Authorities say 55-yr-previous Jose Antonio Jimenez was pronounced lifeless at 9:48 p.m. Thursday after a deadly injection at Florida State Jail in Starke.

Jimenez was convicted of the October 1992 killing of sixty three-yr-previous Phyllis Minas in her North Miami condo.

Authorities say Jimenez was burglarizing Minas’ house when she came residence and stunned him. Investigators stated Minas, a longtime employee of the Miami-Dade Courtroom Clerk’s workplace, was stabbed eight occasions.

Authorities say Jimenez is the twenty eighth inmate executed in Florida since Gov. Rick Scott took workplace in 2011. That’s probably the most of any Florida governor because the demise penalty was reinstated in 1976.
